Minchaya Chayosumrit is an artist-printmaker based in Bangkok. She graduated from Silpakorn University and continued her study in Communication Design at Central Saint Martins where she developed her interests in handwork and printmaking processes. Since 2013, she co-founded a small studio, The Archivist, specializing in hand-pulled screen prints, selling graphic art prints, collaborating with designers and illustrators, aiming to push the boundaries of silkscreen through her personal artworks and has been running workshops about hand-pulled screen-print constantly.&#38;nbsp;

A screenprint of black and white circles divided in half by techniques to compare between the top half that uses just two layers of printing: 1 black and 1 white. This way, three prints could be done in less than half an hour. For the bottom half, a circle is printed next to each other in eleven layers, alternating between the opaque white ink and the transparent black ink. With this method, three prints are done in three hours approximately. A comparison test between “water” and “medium” is resulted from one of the studio’s work when the colour ran out while printing. To complete the printing session, water was added, resulting in small cracks that are naturally appealing and attractive. Min then started to explore more about this spectacular texture by mixing water at 50:50 ratio down to 4 times, a procedure that no one else would have done. The way the colour and water collide, blending and dividing once dried, controlling the uncontrollable has just been developed very recently. We are certain that artists who are obsessed with textures will love the piece and be inspired. Ink stacking technique is to print over the same area, after the previous layer dried, multiple times. The ink will stack up and have an effect similar to embossing creating an impressive technique for people who have just begun to learn about screen print. We often find ourselves touching it involuntarily after printing, and people often say, “WOW” once they lay hands on the ink’s texture. For this particular piece, the difference between each layer is demonstrated one by one through the number of dots on the dominoes. The dots indicate the number of times it is printed on, therefore one dot means one layer while six dots mean six layers. As the number of dots increase, its surface thickens. Since the first time that we started screen-printing, using the human senses with the prints is a priority. 	Journey of K50 Grey

Endurance is the definition of this piece. A greyscale chart started from K50 (Black
mixed with screen- printing medium), that we challenged ourself to add only C M Y or
Medium, one colour at a time, to achieve the K50 shade again within 48 trials. Colour
mixing has always been challenging for all the printers, in our studio, sometimes our
client requested the colour between two Pantones. I was inspired by the task and
initiated this piece to test myself and the studio.

	White on Black on White on Black

An experiment conducted to compare the difference between printing white on white
and black paper, and printing black on black and white paper. Assorted paper from
different companies are used to emphasise the fact that each type of paper has its
own absorption quality. Moreover, the whiteness and the blackness of each paper
affects the white and black ink distinctively.

					
The fascinating part of this piece is that when the audience try to read the word
“black” and “white” on the paper, they will start to have questions whether which part
is the ink, and which part is the paper. With techniques of screen printing the whole
background and leave the text as the non-printed area, mixed with screen printing
text, the work itself is such a fun puzzle to figure out.

This screen print is all about the special colours. Although we always use special
colours at our studio because of a necessity to mix new colours and wash the screen
every time. In the industrial printing system, to mix colours are rare, unless the
payment is worthwhile, since it is a time consuming process. We are more familiar
with the CMYK system because it is fast, easy, and cheap. Fortunately, every colour in screen-printing started from a clean slate so we were able to do anything with it.
For this piece, water-based silver ink is printed on each sides of the paper separately
because the frame was not big enough to fit the whole thing but the overlapping
parts turned out cooler than ice. The tube sticks had its opacity lowered as ina computer, where some corners are in focus and some disappeared.

This piece has adorable colours, even when it was incomplete. We have created colour
trapping charts from no trapping at all to more trapping size options, while comparing
the opaque and transparent colours. This chart is for screen print lovers and can be
used to analyse existing collection of screen prints. It is even more suitable for those
who are eager to learn more about screen printing because it will surely be handy in
